Communications Center Takes 2,000+ Inadvertent 911 Calls

WAUKESHA, Wis. — The Waukesha County Communications Center is issuing a warning after receiving more than 2,000 inadvertent 911 calls last month.

The agency is asking residents to be more cautious about dialing 911. “It takes resources away from people who really need the 911,” Waukesha County resident John Dahms said.

Director Gary Bell said it’s a growing problem, as the staff has to make sure each misdialed call really is a mistake. He added it’s usually an issue with smartphones.
